Pilot Opportunity: The Nature Action and Transition Rating

The Nature Action and Transition Rating (NATR) is a practical, modular framework developed by Wild Plan to help businesses understand where they stand on nature, what matters most for their sector, and how to take meaningful, measurable steps towards nature positive.

We’re now inviting a small number of organisations to take part in the NATR Pilot Programme. This is an opportunity to shape the future of one of Ireland’s most practical and SME-friendly nature assessment tools while gaining bespoke insights into your own nature performance.

About the Pilot

The Nature Action and Transition Rating (NATR) pilot is a guided assessment and learning experience designed to help businesses explore their nature impacts, identify priority actions, and get clear on what “good” looks like.

It’s built to cut through complexity and make nature action accessible, especially for SMEs and suppliers who are feeling lost between TNFD, GBF and incoming expectations from customers and regulators.

This is not a tick-box exercise. The pilot is hands-on, supportive and focused on real-world, achievable progress.

Eligibility

The pilot is ideal for:

  • Businesses already doing something on sustainability

  • Organisations with some capacity, but not big ESG teams

  • Teams who know nature is rising fast on the agenda

  • Businesses ready to test, learn and shape something new

  • Climate-active companies ready for their next chapter

You do not need to be a nature expert. You only need willingness to explore and improve.

Benefits

Participating businesses will gain:

A clear baseline
A structured, accessible view of your current position across operational impact, value-chain influence, biodiversity support and governance readiness.

Tailored insights
A breakdown of where your biggest opportunities lie as a business of your size and sector.

A practical, no-nonsense action path
Simple, achievable next steps that move you towards nature positive without overwhelming your team.

Guided support
You’ll be walked through the process by Wild Plan, making it easy to understand and complete.

Early-mover advantage
Pilots help shape the final version of NATR and receive early access to future updates, tools and learning resources.

What the Pilot Involves

The pilot is designed to be lightweight and realistic for busy teams. It typically includes:

  • A short onboarding call
  • Completion of the online NATR Lite assessment (approx. 45 minutes)
  • Review and interpretation of your results
  • A feedback session to explore insights, gaps and high-value actions
  • Optional: participation in user testing for future versions of the tool

There are no prerequisites, no technical requirements, and no prior knowledge expected.

Why take part?

Most businesses want to take action for nature but don’t know where to start. The pilot gives you:

  • Clarity
  • Structure
  • A sense of direction
  • Confidence you’re focusing on what actually matters

You’ll also help make NATR more accessible, practical and impactful for thousands of SMEs.

Current Pilot Partners

NATR is already being piloted with a range of Irish businesses including organisations in food service, coffee, retail and landscaping.

Early results show strong engagement, clear priority-setting and positive momentum across teams.
